Obligation to care

CENSUS considers data collection and information on natural values and threats as matters which bring a responsibility. Knowledge of nature and administration of data results in a care duty. Many findings on natural values are often collected at high costs and with great effort. Moreover research on wildlife hardly goes without disturbance. It is therefore a necessity to make efficient use of informations as much as possible and make these contribute to the conservation and protection of nature.

Obligation to know

CENSUS considers nature protection and nature conservation as matters of engagement. Many people are on account of their profession active for and in nature: e.g. site managers, conservationists and government officials. Their caring for and dealing with nature means in the first place an obligation to know about the status and development of populations of species which are characteristic for a region or habitat. In the second place it is necessary to recognise threats and trends on time and once a threat is recognised to take it into account in management and planning. In this process, the recurrence of errors needs to be avoided. It is therefore a necessity to conduct research and to share information and methods as well as to publish conclusions and insights.
